30. Thoughts on Conversation Groups

Hi there!

Next week will be our final session of the academic year. To mark the occasion, we’d like to dedicate some time to reflecting on your experience as English learners — both in our group and beyond. Have our meetings been helpful for you? What do you think are the strengths of our conversation group? Is there anything you would have liked to do differently, or anything you felt was missing? While you get ready to share your thoughts, feel free to watch a couple of useful videos here:

1.  How to be included in any group conversation (Without saying something smart)

2. Is there a critical period for learning a language?

 Have a great weekend!

22. Fears and Phobias

Hi there!  Many people feel nervous when they have to speak in front of others. For some people, this fear is very strong and becomes a real phobia. In this video, Daniel tells the story of the day he finally faced his fear of public speaking. At first, he feels extremely anxious and thinks about avoiding the presentation. However, he decides to try. Step by step, he begins to feel more confident and finishes his talk successfully. This story reminds us that fear often becomes smaller when we face it instead of avoiding it. Have a great weekend!

28. Complaints and Requests

Dear conversationalists, Have you ever had a problem with a product or a service? Did you know what to say in English to complain or ask for help? Next week we will practise useful expressions for making complaints and requests in everyday situations, especially when dealing with customer service. To prepare the topic and revise practical phrases, we recommend you watch this video: Have a great (and long) weekend!

04. Weather

Hello! The weather is one of the most typical topics for small talk. We recommend that you watch this short video to refresh some vocabulary: See you next week!
